2-Day Defensive Handgun Class
October 11 @ 9:00 am - October 12 @ 4:00 pm PDT
$190.00This is an outstanding class for the intermediate to the advanced shooter. All students must be prepaid to attend, and we do not take more than 20 students per class. All students must be 18 years of age or older, unless you get pre-approval. If you have a responsible child that you would like to shoot next to you, give us a call, prior to registration, for approval.
This class is a $1,000 value, but your cost is only $190 for the 2 days, at this time. There are NO membership fees or background check fees. We do not operate off of the shoot/coach model, all students are shooters. We do not tape targets and there is very little lecturing. This class is approximately a 6-hour day, day 2 is a little longer. You’ll shoot about 350 rounds per day. 600-800 rounds for the 2 days. We operate with one range master plus 4–5-line instructors.
All students must bring your government issued photo ID, IE: Driver’s License.
Upon completion of this course, you will have a fundamental understanding of the use of your handgun. Among the many skills you should acquire will be the ability to safely and easily present your weapon from the holster and fire the necessary number of shots to the center of a target 5 yards away in under 3 seconds! Most gun fights are at 9 feet and everybody misses. That is sad and we want you to learn to not miss.
Drills include but not limited to: Loading and Unloading; Grip, Stance, Sight Picture, Sight Alignment, and Trigger Control; Presentation from the Ready position, the High Safe and the Holster; Target Engagement from Arm’s Length to 10 yards under Time Pressure; Malfunction Clearing; Emergency and Tactical Reloading. We will be shooting and moving, shooting and backing up and turning and shooting.
Firearm, Equipment and Ammo Requirements:
Holsters must be on the belt, OWB, correctly fitted to the weapon, completely covering the trigger guard and remain open when the weapon is removed, not allowing the weapon to cover the shooter’s body. Cross-draw, shoulder holsters or ankle holsters are not allowed. It would be a good idea to bring a backup gun and holster, in case yours fails.
A minimum of three magazines (recommend 4-6) and two single or one double magazine pouch worn on the belt on the side opposite the handgun are required. Use the magazines you will be carrying on a daily basis, not the 30-50 round ghetto mags. Speed loader holders for revolvers can be worn on your belt in the front. This will be a tough class for a revolver and is NOT recommended. If you are shooting a low-capacity semi-auto we recommend 6-8 magazines. We have one drill that takes 50 rounds without a break.
Electronic hearing protection is mandatory. You need to be able to hear me with your hearing protection on.
A sturdy belt, hat with brim, wrap around impact resistant eye protection, pants with pockets, comfortable shoes or boots, etc. A dump pouch and shooting gloves are recommended. There is no need for knee pads as all shooting, in this class, is done from standing. We will be having advanced classes in the near future, then knee and elbow pads would be a good idea.
We also recommend sunscreen, electrolyte drinks (we will have water) and snacks. We will have a short lunch break so bring a sack lunch.
Ammunition Requirements: 9mm, .357 SIG, .40 S&W, 10mm, .45 ACP, .38 Special, .357 mag, .380. Estimated round count 600-800 rounds. Yes, we will be shooting a bunch. Bring 1000 rounds and you’ll go home with some, or we will store it for you until the next class if you’re from out of town.
Each shooter must have their own gear.
FYI: Foul language will not be tolerated.
