All students must be prepaid to attend this class\, and we only take a limited number of students per class.  All students must be 18 years of age or older\, unless you get preapproval. There are NO membership fees or background check fees. We do not operate off of the shoot/coach model\, all students are shooters. We do not tape targets and there is very little lecturing. This class is approximately a 6–7-hour day and you’ll shoot about 350 rounds per day. 600-800 rounds for the 2 days. We operate with one range master plus 4–5-line instructors. We only take 20 students per class. \nAll students must bring government issued photo ID\, IE: Driver’s License. \nUpon completion of this course\, you will have a fundamental understanding of the use of your handgun. You should have the ability to safely and easily present your weapon from the holster and fire the necessary number of shots to the center of a target 5 yards away in under 3 seconds! Most gun fights are at 9 feet and everybody misses. That is sad and we want you to learn to not miss. \nDrills include but not limited to: Loading and Unloading; Grip\, Stance\, Sight Picture\, Sight Alignment\, and Trigger Control; Presentation from the Ready position\, the High Safe or Timple index and the Holster; Target Engagement from Arm’s Length to 10 yards under Time Pressure; Malfunction Clearing; Emergency and Tactical Reloading. We will be shooting and moving\, shooting and backing up and turning and shooting. \nFirearm\, Equipment and Ammo Requirements: \nHolsters must be on the belt\, OWB\, correctly fitted to the weapon\, completely covering the trigger guard and remain open when the weapon is removed\, not allowing the weapon to cover the shooter’s body. Cross-draw\, shoulder holsters or ankle holsters are not allowed. It would be a good idea to bring a backup gun\, in case yours fails. \nA minimum of three magazines (recommend 4-6) and two single or one double magazine pouch worn on the belt on the side opposite the handgun are required. Use the magazines you will be carrying every day\, not the 30-50 round ghetto mags. Speed loader holders for revolvers can be worn on your belt in the front. This will be a tough class for a revolver and not recommended. If you are shooting a low-capacity semi-auto we recommend 6-8 magazines. We have one drill that takes 50 rounds. \nElectronic hearing protection is mandatory. \nA sturdy belt\, hat with brim\, wrap around impact resistant eye protection\, pants with pockets\, comfortable shoes or boots\, etc.  A dump pouch and shooting gloves are recommended. There is no need for knee pads as all shooting is done from standing. There is no need to cover\, it is illegal to carry concealed anywhere in the State of Nevada if you do not possess a CCW honored by Nevada\, including private property. \nWe also recommend sunscreen\, electrolyte drinks (we will have water) and snacks.  We will have a short lunch break so bring a sack lunch. \nAmmunition Requirements: 9mm\, .357 SIG\, .40 S&W\, 10mm\, .45 ACP\, .38 Special\, .357 mag\, .380. Estimated round count 600-800 rounds. Yes\, we will be shooting a bunch. Bring 1000 rounds and you’ll go home with some\, or we will store it for you until the next class if you are from out of town. \nFYI: Foul language will not be tolerated. \n

SUMMARY:Basic Handgun Class
DESCRIPTION:Purchasing a handgun and then getting your CCW does not mean you are ready to protect yourself or a loved one.  Sadly\, many people think that’s all they need so that’s all they do.  They are wrong. \nA person needs professional training\, and then you need to practice what you have been taught. There are many companies that offer this kind of training all over the country and the prices and attitudes vary a lot. \nMy wife and I are NRA Certified Pistol Instructors\, and we have a great staff. We teach CCW classes as well as live fire classes.  Many times\, when I ask a student when was the last time you were shooting\, the answer I get back is\, “When I got my CCW permit”.  In Nevada that was 5 years ago. We have seen a lot of people that have qualified for their CCW and yet they are not comfortable or proficient with their gun. \nShooting is a very perishable skill; it goes away quite quickly. It’s not like riding a bike. A person who carries a gun should be at the range at least once a month shooting a box of ammo but\, it’s no help if you’re practicing poor habits or your accuracy is not improving. \nIf you are a relatively new shooter\, I would recommend you take our Basic Handgun Course. It’s a one-day class that is about 4-5 hours.  We will give you a good foundation for you to build on.  We will teach you to draw and holster safely\, how to deal with malfunctions and how to shoot accurately.  The cost is only $150. \nAfter you have taken this class\, you can move on to our 2-Day Defensive Handgun Class. \nFor more information go to BGSnevada.com or give us a call 775-990-9393. \n************************* \nWhat you will need for the Basic Handgun Course: \nYour gun: preferably a semi-auto .380 – .45ACP \nAt least 3 standard magazines (more is better) and a double mag holder or 2 singles. \nA holster fitted to your gun that covers the trigger and trigger guard and stays open when the gun is removed. \nA sturdy belt to support your gun and magazines. \nHolsters are OWB and mag pouches on the support side. No cross-draw\, ankle\, shoulder or IWB holsters. \nElectronic hearing protection – you need to hear me with your hearing protection on. \nPants with pockets (cargo pants are ideal). \nComfortable closed toe shoes or boots. No flip-flops or sandals. \nEye protection and a brimmed hat. \n300 rounds of ammo. You will most likely go home with some. \nGloves and dump pouch are recommended. \nDo not wear low cut shirt or blouse. Hot brass will be flying around.

SUMMARY:Basic Handgun Course
It’s a one-day class that is about 4 hours.  We will give you a good foundation for you to build on.  We will teach you to draw and holster safely\, how to deal with malfunctions and how to shoot accurately. \nWhat you will need for the Basic Handgun Course: \nYour gun: preferably a semi-auto .380 – .45ACP \nAt least 3 standard magazines (more is better) and a double mag holder or 2 singles.

Bring 1000 rounds and you’ll go home with some\, or we will store it for you until the next class. \nFYI: Foul language will not be tolerated.
